About me
Hi! I’m Gillian. Inspired by my amazingly creative parents I have an inherited passion for art and creativity. I’m an artist/maker based in Hackney, east London.
I followed my parents into teaching and enjoyed a long and successful career in primary education for almost 40 years whilst working in my studio in the east end, carving sculpture; exhibiting and taking commissions as well as making and selling for my haberdashery stall locally.
When not carving or sewing, I currently teach art on a project basis and provide support for school’s art and curriculum leaders.
I enjoy developing my skill in letter carving and quilting particularly although, as my mum said, “Never pass up an opportunity to try something new!”
I hope you enjoy looking at some of my previous work. I’d love to hear from you if you would like to chat about a commission – in fabric or stone – or if you’d like to find out more or book an art workshop.
